Really sorry to anybody who bothers to come into my blog for updates. There's something wrong with the format of my blog & while I'm desperately imcompetent in HTML, it didnot stop me or my friends from helping me. One day, decided to try a new blog skin, hoping it would bring everything back to normal but all my additional stuff like the musci playing in the background as well as the links to my friends blog is gone. Everything except the actual posts.

Sigh.

Shit has hit the ceiling fan.

I know I should update more often but everytime I look at the damage, it is too painful to continue.

Any HTML experts out there willing to lend a hand, please let me know. Maybe I should move to a new address but I will keep you guys informed.

Man Utd is 5 points clear in the EPL

It has been a while since I have watched ann EPL match. Most of my time is spent as a slave for the company as I have been promoted to GM (General Man) recently & have so many loose ends to tie up. Really missed the times just after graduation, with not a care in the world & all the time you want.

Going to Changi Village, Bedok 333 kopitiam, hotel lounges to catch the matches have been the highlight of my weekends during that period of time. I still miss those places but as life goes on, sometimes your priorities change.

Anyway, enough lamenting about the past & a little shout-out to the good & capable people at Old Trafford who are doing a marvelous job in the EPL at the moment. 5 points clear with the cloest rivals due to meet sunday night (SG time). Maybe I should relive the good old days & pick a place to watch the clash of the titans (Liverpool & Chelsea are still excellent clubs with rich heritage despite the speed bumps they have encountered so far).

One of my favourite pastimes is spending the weekend in hotels where there's nothing to clean up, the air conditioner is switched on all the time without someone nagging that the electricity bill is getting higher by the month, & of course relaxing in the bathtub surrounded by bubbles & watching the telly.

Ritz Carlton is a hotel very very high up on my lost of preference & since Valentine's day is round the corner, they have come up with the "Ultimate" package for rich playboys to pamper a very lucky girl.

After the briefest of consideration, I quickly made up my mind who is lucky enough to spend this day with me in the lap of luxury. All considerations are entirely non-biased & meritocratic. Past performance over the past year from the day after last year's Valentine's Day to date is the deciding factor & while there has been no obvious leader in the race, which makes it very difficult indeed to choose just one girl.

It was always you girl.

Speedtest (Bandwidth Tester)

I've been complaining forever about the erratic download speeds that my ISP (hint, it's green in colour) has been providing & while I was at Aeon's home (yes, that is his chosen name), he showed me a cool website where I can do a little bandwidth test to see how it compares with his speeds (which by the way seem so much faster & stable than mine. His ISP is red in colour in case you are wondering which colour camp he belongs to.

His upload & download speeds are almost half mine so what really is going on? I should be enjoying twice the experience he is getting.

Oh well.

The latest offering from Italian supercar marque Ferrari is a Grand Tourer cum hard-top convertible with direct fuel injection, 7 speed double-clutch gearbox & well over 400bhp. Before this model came along, the F430 Spyder was the automatic hoice for any billionaire playboy under 30 years of age, but now the choice has just gotten a little harder to make.

The video shows a review by Fifth Gear & it seems rather positive. Since it costs around the same as a Ferrari F430 Spyder albeit the 200kg weight disadvantage, it just might fit into what I want from a car in the very near future.

It has been a while since I had an entry in my blog, so I just want to share with you people a place I recently "discovered" while waiting for a friend who wanted to meet up for coffee. For the record, the owners did not offer to compensate me for the publicity (or lack of it).

A review of the place.

Located along Bali Lane, which can be equally inaccessible whether you drive or not. Not many bus services serve this area & it is not located inside a shopping center that is located above a MRT station. Parking is totally limited too.

What I like about this place is that a few graduates came together & wanted to have a place to hang out. Not too commercial like Coffee Bean & Tea leaf or Starbucks. It is homely yet suitable to meet people to discuss serious stuff.

It is quiet. Sometimes too quiet that you worry if the place is making enough money to stay afloat. You know the feeling when you find a really decent place to hang out & it closes down because it is not making enough money?

There is a nice corner with really comfortable sofas. At the other end of the 2nd storey near the stairs & toilet, there is another corner where you can sit on the floor & sip your coffee placed on a low coffee table. Light snacks like fries & wedges are available if the hunger pangs get to you.

The highlight of this place would be the free Wifi that is available as well as numerous power points to juice up your lappy if the need arises. A lot of though has been put into planning what the owners really want & also keeping up with modern times where people work away from their desks & laptop computers become more common place.

Prices are reasonable & service & prompt & polite. Prompt & attentive but never to intrusive.

This might be my new hangout as it is located near my workplace & it doesn't cost anywhere near an arm or leg to spend the hours if you have time to spare.

Was walking around Vivocity when I passed by the really BIG Candy Empire stall. It must be every kid's fantasy to own a store like this. It is my destiny to have a really big house in the near future & have a section of my kitchen just like Candy Empire, with all sorts of candies & chocolates & snacks like the ones sold here. I also wan a bar as well stocked as any bar you find in our watering holes but that wil come in another post.

What I like about this place is they import varieties of familiar brands that are not sold here. For example. the Chunky Kit Kat. We used to have only peanut better (even they have stopped importing this, I wonder why), caramel & something else which I can't recall. Cookies & Cream Chunky Kit Kat is not something you find even in our high end supermarkets but the people at Candy Empire did so.

Walked around the chocolate section & have to limit myself to 3 bars of chocolate as shown in the picture. OMG!!! The average price is about SGD$3 per bar so thats SGD$10 of chocolate sitting in my tiny plastic bag. So SO SOOOOOOO expensive.

I guess I should give myself a treat once in a while, even though I am in shape. Round is a shape.

It seems like there is not much activity going on here but I can assure you guys that I am pretty much alive, unlike the impression given by the number of posts, which are few & far in between. Watched a couple of movies lately courtesy of HSBC's Golden Village prepaid card promotions. SGD$75 for a card which entitles you to 10 tickets during all days & all sessions. It is most worthwhile to use it during the weekends & public holidays when tickets cost SGD$10 each. If I want to watch a movie, I would do so on Tuesday when they cost GV Club members SGD$6.50.

Anyway more on the movie. It is an adaption of another movie Cellular which was released in 2004. I though only Singapore TV program people (what exactly do you call them???) have no creativity or are bounded by so much red tape & censorship B.S. that we have no choice but to copy what other people have already successfully done. It turns out that our Hong Kong movie directors & scriptwriters are following the same trend too. They copied this movie & just used mostly Asian actors 7 the dialogue was mostly in mandarin. Okie, to be fair, the Ang Mohs have done the same thing too with Shuttle (there are Thai & English versions of the movie).

I found the action a little too slow for my liking & it was not really worth watching on a weekend. Maybe on a Tueday perhaps, when ticket prices are among the cheapest available. Maybe I would let Yuri explain more about the movie as she did not agree with the good reviews given by her PDFs (pig / dog friends).

My deepest condolences 06 & 07

It has been a difficult time for all of us. Mothers of one of my closest friends in NTU & my ex-colleague / ex-mentor passed away in the space of three months. Every wake that I attend is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be. Both passed away to cancer, arguably the top killer in affluent S'pore.

Lifestyle changes must be in order. Stress must be managed, diet must be revamped, physical exercise is now on the cards, procrastination must be reined in & not allow to ran rampant.

Se7en, may you find closure tomorrow & live strong. If you need anything, my mobile is on 27/4.

Feeling overwhelmingly "emo" or short for emotional as I woke up on a Sun morning. Waves & waves of emotions came crashing over me, I woke up at around 0830hrs. Pretty early considering I slept around 0300hrs the previous night. My biological clock must be fried.

Finally, the first of our group of 3 "brothers" got married & I was asked to be one of the "brothers" for this happy occassion. First time having such heavy responsibilities for a wedding & naturally there was butterflies in my stomach. Will the "sisters" give us an impossbile hard time or would it be a stroll in the park? the only way to find out is to go through it & find out first hand. Had to wake really early the next moring so the groom invited us over to his new flat to spend the night & also to spruce up our dirty cars. After hours of washing & polishing, everything was done & we went for our bachelor's night. Eating economy bee hoon & drinking coffee at a nearby coffeeshop!!! The actual ROM was held a few months back so I guess it is a bit too late for a wild of wild fun with strippers & booze. Sigh. Hahaha.

The nevue of the wedding dinner. There were 60 tables!!! OMG!!! When I get married & if I do host a wedding dinner, it will be a very grand but extremely private event with just 5 tables. 1 for the groom's family, 1 for the bride's family, 1 for relatives, 1 for friends & 1 spare table. Just 5 will be nice. We can entertain our guest s properly & it will not be a turn-up-just-to-show-face event. I like personal touches where every guest will be addressed by name. Luckily the evening passed with incident & we can all rest easy.

It has been quite a while since I last went clubbing (most of the time was spent drinking at Thai Disco 2 in Golden Mile Complex. The previous band has fulfilled their contract (Black Fire) & somehow the present band (D2) can't really fill the very larges shoes left behind. Not to mention an excellent group of colleages that you definitely want to spend time with even after working hours. So off to Double O, where they serve some of the cheapest (if not tHE cheapest) drinks in town. SGD$ 12 for housepour jugs & SGD$3 for tequila shots. Extremely affordable for everybody I must say.

Nothing much to sohur about the music there, but when you are high on alcohol, almost everything can get to tapping your feet to the beat or letting your body loose on the dancefloor. The smoking room nearest to the dancefloor is very cramped & there is almost zero ventilation. In contract, the smoking room nearest to the live band area & pool tables is spacious & you can actually feel the air-conditioning. The live band, consistsing a male bass guitaristt, a male guitarist & a female singer whp also plays the tamborine. Drinks here are more expensive. Juggies going for double the rpice (SGD$12) while a frozen peach margarita costs SGD$14. Still affordable to the average blue collar worker like me. I told the gand we should get high on cheap drinks before coming out for some chilling in the live band area.

Seems like we are addicted to this place, something to look forward to at the end of the week. It is a form of closure for some of us, a way for us to sit back, look back at the events of the week, chit chat & find time to bond. Starting a relationshio can be hard work, but it is nothing compared to maintaining it. Social obligations can be a really heavy burden if you burn yourself at both ends of the candle.

The Ritz carlton (S'pore) & Maserati GranTurismo

It was a Friday evening & me & a few colleagues were trying to catch a cab to Mohn Sultan so we can have out end-of-week drinks in Dbl O. Before that, we have 2 games of bowling at Marina Square. I did not play as I was really trying my best to fight off the ever-powerful Zee Monster & I wasn't really in the mood to hurl a heavy ball down an oily lane so I can knock down ten whitish thingys.

Seems like there are no cab drivers who are willing to stop for us by the road. I wonder if it is because they are just complying with the rules of having to pick up passenger sonly at taxi stands in the city area or they were just waiting for us to call a cab so they can earn an extra few dollars. Or it could simply be that those taxi drivers are blind.

An alternative was to walk to the hotel lobby next door where there would be a taxi stand for guests of the hotel as well as desperate people like us. In my mind, I was hoping there will not be too many hotel guests as they are given priority & there would not be too many people in the queue overall.

The driveway to the hotel lobby was long, curved & impressive. So this is what the driveway of a self-declared 6-star luxury hotel look like. Nevertheless, it created the feeing of being exclusive & private, yet grand & inviting, provide you can afford to stay there or have a meal in their restaurants.

At the top of the stort climb, this was the sight that greeted me. I was blown away, slightly overwhelmed by the aura. I wanted to come here often. Drive up in my sports car, accompanied by a very attractive partner (could be physical attractiveness, could be because she has a great character that makes everybody like her, etc) to stay for the weekend or just to have a meal. People would know me on a first name basis & I would feel comfortable in such settings which could be intidimating to the man in the street.

I booked a room during the following week for my birthday. Will have some pictures of the place posted soon after, if not I will provide a link to a short write up of the place & the stay in general. Hope the hospitality is legendary.

It is not everyday you see this on the shelves, since the most common supermarket near you would be NTUC Fairprice as they are the largest supermarket chain in Singapore. Wen tto the branch located at the void deck of my block but they do not have it. So did the much much larger branch in Tampines Mall.

Finally found it in Cold Storage. Don't you just love those things that are not commonly found elsewhere?

The taste is heavenly! Salty, unhealthy & savoury. the closest competitor might be Chicken in a Biscuit. Only tried the cheese & bacon flavour but not the barbecue & pizza flavour. Might try the pizza flavour soon.

Was walking around Candy Empire when came I across this variation of Kit Kat. Really every child's dream to own a shop like this. All sorts of chocolates & snacks like potato chips that are not found in Singapore. Prices are on the steep side as most of these are not found in your everyday NTUC or mama shop.

Anyway do your bid to support awareness for breast cancer. It is more prevalent than you would like it to be & it affects the people we care about.

it is said that once a woman loses her breasts, she does not feel complete as a woman. Same goes for her womb as she is not able to bear children.

MacBook Air

The official advertisment of the MacBook Air posted on YouTube. Currently on sale at the 2008 IT show (Suntect Convention Centre) but no promotions for this particular model. Sigh. You are unable to bring home this baby anytime soon as only pre-orders are available. Torn between the MBA (MacBook Air) & the MBP (MacBook Pro) 15" model. Relatively small price difference between the two but vastly different features serving slightly different functions.

Nevertheless, going to wait until the next revision of the MBA before making decision. In the meantime, PB G4 still working fine, so can't bear to sell it off or send it to lappy heaven so soon.

Murphy's Law at work. When you want something to die real soon so you can get another model, it works just fine & you get sentimental about throwing it away, giving it away or selling it. When you really need something, it dies on you.

It is time to disregard Murphy's Law & focus on the Law of Attraction instead. At lease it is more optimistic.

My maiden trip to Waraku. Heard many favourable from Yuri so decided to make a trip down after work one day to find out what the fuss was all about. The facade of the restaurant. Can facade be used in this context? Hmmm. The usually refer to the front of a building.

Yuri is a fan of this steam egg dish called chawamushi (spelled correctly?).

My dinner for the evening. I normally have the katsu don when I go to a japanese restaurant. Not really an adventurous person & normally stick to the tested-&-proven stuff. It was delicious. It came with some purple radish thingy & a bowl of miso soup with a piece of naruto floating on it. Not too salty, just the way I like it.

Yuri's dinner. Some na-be (sounds like some rude Hokkien phrase we use oh-so-often but it actually means something like mini paper steamboat in Japanese) Of course na-be is the shortened version of the word kaminabe.

Our common side dish. Some cheese & potato croquette. Not too cheesy. Something different.

Met up with the ex-roomie for a little get-together session. isn't it sad that we are not able to spend as much time with our friends in the past once we have started working? Long working hours, fatigue, other social obligations & geographical distance keeps us away from catching up.

Meeting place was The Central above Clark Quay MRT station. Relatively nice shopping with a good number of japanese restaurants. Probably to cater to the expatriate population that frequent the area. Roomie (a.k.a musashiken) suggested trying out the famous black pig cutlet at Tomton.

A little write-up on the famed black pigs (they are really black in colour, not the nice pink we all know. Why are they black? Too much rolling in the mud? Neva bathe like some girls I know? Apparently the reason why they taste so nice is also because they leave a relaxing life & are fed good food. Like some of us. Muahahaha!!!

Forgot what musashiken had but he was given this really cool grinding bowl to grind his sesame seeds into a fine power before mixing with some dark brown sauce. It is amazing how efficient the design is. A few rounds & the sesame seeds became really fine.

The service was attentive but never intrusive. Great place to bring your date, especially if she is a ni-hon-jin.

Return to Kallang McDonald's

Finally could find some time to bring out the Mac PowerBook for a little outdoor exercise. Drove to Kallang Mac (kmac, for short) vie the KPE but realised no matter which exit I took (ECP City or ECP Changi Aiport), I am unable to get to the Fort Road exit without having to make a detour of some sort. Looks like I have to stick to the ECP if I am coming here from Tampines. Nevertheless, I reach here in good time as traffic was relatively light & without event.

Lots of good memories where made here. From preparing for my examinations in the final semester to meeting a long lost friend I knew since junior college days. How time flies. It has been over a year since I have graduate but yet I do not see myself as having a significant change in myself. Nevertheless, when things have hit rock bottom, there is only one way to go. Up.

Many people here at this dinner hour. Many people also eyeing the electrical power sockets which are oh-so-important to juicing up my lappy. Didn't manage to get a prime area seat but have to settle for the fringes for now, constantly eyeing the area to see if there is any seats being vacated so I can swoop in & claim my terrority. Not much juice left. Stewpig me bought a 17 inch model when I should have just bough the smallest model with the longest battery life. Now that the MacBook Air has been launched with a reported life of 5 hours of wireless productivity (which I assume as meaning the notebook can be used surfing the net for 5 hours), it means more time on the move than being connected by an umbilical cord to the wall.

At around $3000 for the basic model & $5000++ for the model with the faster processor & a Solid State Drive, it is a hefty price to pay for exceptional form & factor.

Maserati Gran Turismo

One of the nicer GT cars that I set my sights on. Costing roughly $410,000 with COE, it is a huge investment & it shall remain in my fantasies for now. With a 10% downpayment & taking up a 10-year loan, it would cost about $4100 / month excluding petrol, parking charges, ERP charges, traffic offence summons, insurance & road tax.

Assuming parking costs $90 / month for multi-story carparks (normally people who can afford such cards do not stay in HBD areas though) as well as around $50 for occassions where you use parking coupons or park in shopping centers, that adds up to around $140 / month just for parking.

ERP charges can go up to $50 depending on where you go & what time, but let us take an average & also considering how our government erect these gantries on a whim, I mean, after deliberated studies & valuable feedback from traffic indicators & the general public.

As it is a 4.2 litre V8 engine, it is really thirsty. With petrol frequently crossing the $2/litre mark, I guess petrol cost should cost anywhere from $500 onwards. If you have a lead foot, probably around $800 onwards. I am not really a speed demon, so I'll take my estimate as $600 as I like to drive to wherewver I go.

I'm 28 this year & it being a supercar with only 2 doors, insurance should be around $3500 / year? I'm only guessing because I never did any research on this.

Road tax for a car with this engine capacity should be around $5000 / year? For the 2-litre car, it is around $1400 / year but it jumps exponentially as you cross the 3 litre mark.

So what is the total cost of maintaining this beauty? Probably around $$6000 / month. I do not even earn $6000 / month. So I guess it is out of reach until I take home around $8000 / month. Which is ridiculous because I spend more on the car than pampering myself. Hahaha.

This is my first blog that I did without the use of a computer. Using my Sony Ericsson K810i, I sent a picture I took while in Great World City to somewhere & it magically appeared in my blog. Amazing isn't it? Actually using GPRS or WAP (I still do not know the difference, the picture was sent to some server through a tie-down with Blogger & a dummy account was created along with a dummy blog address. You could also add some text while on the go, but I think I will keep it shrt & simple for the time being because it is not very user-friendly to compose anything using just your thumbs on a small keypad. When I accessed it for the first time, I was prompted to choose either to stick with the dummy address, which would make it not so dumb afterwards, or I could transfer all data to any of my existing blogs from now onwards. Of course I chose the latter. Also please take note that when you send a picture through the magical way I just described, the mobile phone will resize (actually downsize) your picture to make it easier to send through the air (magic takes effort too you know?). SO this picture is the actual size as captured by the mobile phone. I deleted the downsized version as I could not get the layout I want & therefore had to reload the picture.

This is one of the latest games I have trying out on the Nintendo DS. Have you every wanted to be a doctor or even a surgeon? Well, for most of us, it is either we do not have the steady hands or the required number of active brain cells (some of us have the quantity but not the quality, if you get what I mean) to get into medical school, do well & get specialized training.

I have problems even qualifying for medical school, let alone complete the course & shine. So this is the closest I can get to fulfilling all the expectations parents & grandparents & relatives have of you when you were young. Don't they ever say to you, "study hard, become a doctor & make us proud"???

In this game, you take on the role of a young doctor who is an unpolished gem, those that only appear once in every 500 or 600 years (exaggerating a lot). You start from the bottom, perform simple procedures & work your way up after to more complex ones. I heard from a little voice in my head, if you advance far enough in the game, you can even perform breast enlargement surgeries (aka boob jobs) as well as sexual reassignment surgeries (aka sex change surgery).

YouTube video of the couple's solemnization ceremony at Bottle Tree Park in Yishun. These trees have a weird shape & are bottom heavy, like a bottle, & like some of the women i know. Hahaha.

Picture of the happy bride on her wedding day which is a few months after her ROM. The dinner was held the same night at Noble House in UIC building. Behind her are her bridesmaids who did not really give us best men an easy time when it comes to the traditional showdown between the 2 groups in the morning. Still left a literal bitter aftertaste in my mouth & in my gut.

Nope, this is not my new computer even though after using it for a few times, I'm seriously considering changing to iMacs after my present pc has reached the end of her useful life.

Aeon bought this & when I went to Yuri's house, all my attention would be on the computer instead of anybody else. Ha. It is simply a work of art, to be able to fit everything into such a slim chassis, with all the Power Supply Units, Mother Board, hard disk, etc. If you have seen the inside of a typical PC, you would be more amazed than me.

Some specificiations of the Imac as available at the time of posting. 24 glorious inches sounds really attractive. With the new Intel processors, I can install Windows & use virtualization software to have the best of both worlds on the same Desktop.

Time to start svaing money!!!

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

For the longest time, it has been a bittle struggle between these 2 supercars with a foldable roof, or convertible as it is more commonly known. Some will call them cabriolet or spyder depending on which part of the world you come from & the era too. They all mean the same thing, whether the roof is made of fabric with a metal supporting structure (soft top) or purely out of metal pieces that still fold away neatly (hard top).

The Ferrari F430 Spyder has all the right curves & a small capacity engine. The Lamborghini Gallardo spyder has a sort of angular look that appeals to the engineer-trained, logical side of me too. The interiors are different & each car maker represents contrasting school of thoughts. Ferrari owners are usually said to be successful but serious in a nutshell. Lamborghini owners are successful & crazy & fun loving with disregard for the rules. Somehow that sounds like me.

Both cars give amazing performance, are incredibly bloody expensive & are every man's dream ride. I guess since Audi owns Lamborghini, there will be some German practicality, engineering & sensibility trickling down to all that Italian passion. After all, Audi cars are known to be one of the best in the world.

At the moment now, the Gallardo Spyder has a slight edge, but all that could change in the near future. There is still the viewing of the actual car & the actual sales experience to be factored in. Now all I need is to win first prize in Toto. Twice.

Tom & Jerry in Blue Cat Blues

This is the first time I am posting a YouTube video of the classic Tom & Jerry Cartoon & you should be wondering what is the rationale behind this. The series has always been one of my favourites. I clearly remember going to Sparks Disco on the 7th floor of Takashimaya while the ah beng music was blasting away, they would show Tom & Jerry cartoons on two projection screens on either side of the dance floor. This particular episode tells a sad but realistic story. The practical & realistic nature of choosing a mate, or in more layman terms, finding a girlfriend. Girls do not seem to have problems finding boyfriends that is why no cartoon has ever been made about the great lengths girls have to go through in order to capture the attention, imagination & the affection of the prospective boyfriend.

Tom falls in love with a really gorgeous female cat but he has competition. Not just any competition. A very rich cat. Whatever Tom tries to do for the girl, the competition raises the bar many times higher than his effort, almost effortlessly, all because of his immense wealth. Naturally, in the end, the girl choses the rich guy & Tom is left brokenhearted & tries to end his life by sitting in the middle of the railway track. In a twist, Jerry joins him too after his girlfriend leaves him for a richer mouse.

You might think that this is all make-believe & it does not happen in real life. All I can say is from my personal experience, in this aspect, reel life mirrors perfectly real life. Girls only want to be with guys who can secure their future, aka financially stable, aka rich. It is sad, realistic. My message is, if you want the girl to love you & to be with you, you first have to give her a reason to choose you. The most obvious, clear cut reason is to be able to give her a good life, filled with material comforts & not let her work a single day anymore. With status, she will be proud to hang onto that arm of yous, & shake her booty as she struts alongside.

Really an awesome car. Carbon composite materials everywhere, more than 600 horsepower in a nice little package. The gull-wing doors are simply to die for!!! However, in land scare Singapore where the cars are parked quite cloe to each other & almost all drivers are inconsiderate & open doors without making sure it does not hit the neighbouring car, I guess such a car can only be parked at places like in front of hotels or valet parking. The roof can be lowered or riased in about 10 seconds which is pretty quick I guess.

She is young, hot, clever & so so so sssooooo yummy!!! Girls with an English accent simply pushes all the right buttons for me. I wonder why, since I do not have any English friends, & nobody around fakes an English accent. You would recall one of my lovers, Michelle, also has an English accent, although she is Chinese. Anyway, the focus should be on Emma here. She is really really smart. She took 10 subjects in some examination (do not know whether it is the equivalent of O levels or the A levels or neither) but she got 8 A* & 2 As, so by any standard, that has got to be some sort of admirable achievement right?

She is blossoming into a fine young lady & blessed is the person who wins her heart. That's me!!! Muahahahahaha!!!

Food Temptation

Decide that it has been quite awhile since i post an entry on Junkie's blog. Thus, i decide to write a food review in this entry since Junkie seldom comment on food. Posting entries of my pedicure, shopping goodies doesnt sound too right on his blog. haha..

Here we go... First, the Aglio Oglio is from Hans (newly open outlet) at Eastpoint. Didnt order the set lunch as the soup of the day is chicken celery which i dun like celery.. yucks.. Thus i order this aglio olio plus 1 ice tea for lunch.. hmm, personally i think pastamania pasta would make a better option for me.. i added alot of tobasco into the pasta to make it taste nicer.. it smell nice as comment by my colleague but when enter into my mouth.. its just average.. :p

Following up next is the curry chicken noodle at bedok central. The ingredient are dao po ( is that how it is spell?), slices of fish cakes, potatoe (if i didnt remember wrongly hor), chicken shreds.. Overall, i think this taste fine.. marina sq food court has a similar curry chicken noodle but i haven got the chance to eat it becos the q is very long when i was there back than.. must go back soon to have a taste of it...

Sigh.. im feeling the hunger now.. but i have had my dinner one lor.. wat a pig i am..

Initially thought I had posted on my own blog, but sleepy-headed me posted on Yuri's blog instead. Anyway where is what I wanted to share. What an experience to sit in such a luxurious & high performance sports car. Actually the proper term should be supercar, & an everyday one at that. Heard from SZL (only a select few know about what the initials mean) that Porsche makes supercars that can be driven everyday & to almost all locations. We have all heard of how troublesome other supercars like Ferrari & Lamborginis can be when travelling to places like underground carparks, HDB carparks, places with numerous speed bumps amongst other places. While their road handling capabilities are in a class of their own, it is precisely their low ground clearance that make them almost impossible to clear without scraping the undercarriage. Lamborghinis are not that bad as in they can be driven everyday but for Ferraris, their engines will be damanged if subjected to heavy urban driving. What an irony. Paying so much that cannot do what an inexpensive Japanese or Korean car can do.

There goes my dream of owning a Ferrari F430. Looks like I might need to change it into a Raging Bull & forfeit my Prancing Horse. Personally I prefer the Ferrari's design. Oh well. When the time comes to really put pen to paper & splash some cash, I hope the reviews would have gotten a little more positive.

I will add a Porsche into the destiny list when I find out more about the cars. As they say, owners knows best as to which cars can be recommended to prospective buyers. In the meantime, the seats are superb in cocooning you into a nice tight (a little too tight in my case) fit while you negotiate those corners. The layout is sensible, with the most often used controls a short reach away. The exhuast note is simply amazing. It would definitely turns heads wherever you go, & attract the attention of the fairer sex (though this might not be so applicable in today's modern era).

Went drinking at Boat Quay with mana123 with his colleagues. Have not been there in many man years. I used to remember BQ was THE place to go for a budget clubbing experience. Some of the more popular pubs even charge a cover!!! Nevertheless, it was more economical than going to a REAL club like Zouk. Did not have much to drink as I was the designated taxi driver for the evening. I got bored towards the end of the evening so I started to play with the dice. McDonald's periodically bring them back for special promotions, the most recent being the Shrek burger meal, which is a little bit like black pepper teriyaki chicken according to Mana123. While the majority of Gallardos are the coupe version, I personally prefer the Spyder version or the convertible version. It has always been my dream to drive my sports car (as you can tell from my list, I do have a few) with the roof retracted down an expressway on a quiet night, Class 95 blasting from my quality sound system & my S.O. sitting by my side, with her right hand outstretched towards the sky, comparing the rock on her finger with the stars in the shy, much like that cheesy commercial (that spoiled a lot of "markets") shown on television.

At the top of this range is the Gallardo Superleggera which features a lot of carbon fibre components which helped it shed 100kg with an increase of 10bhp, bringing it to a total of 530bhp. The last time I checked, it will cost SGD$921000 in Singapore!!!

Not much to comment as the food here is disappointing. To make things worse, the staff showing us to our tables said that the outlet is a direct franchise from the master franchise from whatever country Marche came from. Oh gosh!!! The standard of the food has fallen & somehow the atmosphere does not seem the same as the outlets previously at The Herren & Suntec City. Everything seems the same though. Guess what??? The Village at the former location of Marche at Hereen is even better than the original, though those anal-copyrights people would say the former is a complete rip-off of Marche. I do not care. Good food & reasonable pricing is all that matters to people who live to eat (that's me!!!) rather than copyright issues.

Hewlett Packard ink cartridges

My ink cartridges have been giving me problems lately so it is time to make another dreaded trip down to the HP Service Center located at 438A Alexandra Road. It is pretty far away from Tampines so I drove down this morning, hoping to replace my cartridges. They refused to work when I turn on the printer one fine day (this has happened a few times previously) & it prevents my printer from operating unless I replace them with a new cartridge.

Waited for close to 50 minutes as it was a crowded Saturday afternoon. Seems like there is a lot of problems with HP products as the Service Center is perpetually crowded. Just like Nokia, which is far far worse than HP because there are so many Nokia Service Centers spread across the tiny island of Singapore & they are still crowded. While waiting, I helped myself to the free coffee. I initially wanted MIlo but only hot water was dispensed. Gosh, there were so many people that Milo powder ran out & nobody had the time to replenish it. Seems like there is free Wifi available for those to work while wait for their queue number to appear. I spotted two power sockets for those energy-zapping lap toasters.

Finally, my number 1074 (anybody going to buy 4D???) appeared on the screen & I quickly went to the counter in case they thought I was not there & skipped my turn. This malay dude served me & told me that even though my photo ink cartridge was still relatively full (they weigh each one & compared to the net weight of the cartridge only) & defective, they cannot replace it because it has passed it's expiry date.

Who the XXXX set such a XXXXXXX idiotic protocol? A new cartridge down the drain just because it has expired!!! So folks, those of you who have such perishables, do check your cartridges to make sure they are not passed their use-by date.

Have you received a nice white letter from the local government telling ou to acknowledge that you want the extra money that they are giving you to make up for increasing the Goods & Services Tax from 5 percentage points to 7 percentage points?

A lot of people think that the increase from 5% to 7% is only 2%. That is what certain Men in White want you to believe. Percentage points is different from percentage. If you are slightly mathematically, you would have already gotten what I am trying to say.

2/5 = 0.4 which translates into an increase of 40%!!! Does your salary increase by 40% every few years? I am pissed, because some people's salary do increase with a range of 17% to 33%. Sigh. When was the last time your pay increment is in double digits? Was there even such a time? We are talking about the employed here, those who have a job & report to work. Not the self-employed, the business owners & the investors.

A very simple explanation. Imagine your child weighs 5kg now. Next year he / she weighs 7kg. So it is an increase of 2kg. However, if you express your answer in percentage, it is an increase in weight of 40%. Get it?

So if money is given to you, just take it!!! However, do spend wisely & not squander it meaninglessly.

This song nearly bought a tear to my eye, & those who know me well enough should know that tears do not come easily. Wu Yin Liang Ping, to me is one of the groups that really have strong vocal talent & do not reply on looks or packaging or publicity to reach the popularity they have achieved. Not much was available on wikipedia on Wu Ying Liang Pin as a group or on Ping Guan but there is a decent article on Guang Liang.

I remember I bought one of their cd albums but I have no idea where it is now. Sigh. I think it had a picture of an orange or donut on it. My memory is failing. It was not packaged in a conventional plastic cd case but in a cardboard & paper book-like thingy.

Nevertheless, I do hope you enjoy this song. I shall post the song lyrics here even though the video is a karaoke with lyrics shown in case it becomes unavailable.

How many times have a seemingly well-meaning parent help us make decisions or insist we stick with their decision because they think they know what is best for us or they think they know it all & their knowledge is actually so out-dated, it would make the 30's seem like yesterday. Well, it has happened to everyone of us & it will continue to happen to our children for as long as time never stands still. Seems like we have this parental gene that makes us do silly things that we swore we would never do while we have not become parents ourselves. Those little ones sure can trigger a lot of hidden mechanisms inside us. There's the I'm-27-&-I'm-still-not married gene, the I-want-grandchild-right-now gene, etc. All these stem from the fact that parents have unsettled issues with themselves. Well, let us try not to make our problems become our children's problem.

That is basically what this movie is about. Mother with good intentions making life difficult for her daughter. Below is a summary of the plot.

Daphne Wilder is a mother whose love knows no bounds or boundaries. As a single parent, she has raised three fantastic girls--klutzy, adorable Milly, stable psychologist Maggie and sexy and irreverent Mae--to become the kind of women any mom would die to have. The only problem is they're about to strangle her. In order to prevent her youngest, Milly, from making the same romantic mistakes she did, Daphne decides to set her up with the perfect man. The one thing Daphne decides not to tell Milly, however, is that she placed an ad in the online personals to find him. If anyone knows exactly what her daughter does and doesn't need out of a long-term relationship (or clothes or her career), it's Daphne. Parallels Desktop for Mac

One of my latest cravings & it is not for food or something that runs on petrol & has four tires. Basically it is something made up of millions of billions (okie, maybe this is stretching it too far) of 1s & 0s. That is right, it is a software for having two Operating Systems (namely OS X & Windows XP / Vista) on the same computer. It is called Parallels Desktop for Mac & it shows windows or applications from both OS on the same screen without having to reboot to swtich between the two systems. Pretty cool in my opinion but there are some limitations to this software at this moment. I do hope they iron out the bugs & make it as seamless as possible both in user interface & graphics interface.

Wonder how much the software costs as I could not find it on the official apple website. Anyway I believe this is how the packaging looks like, so if anybody has seen it, please drop me an sms or a comment or whatever to let me know so I can sort out the finances. The next step would be for them (the nice software people working on parallels) to fully support Windows Vista or else it would make little monetary sense or otherwise to fork out good money for outdated original software. It had better be worth the price to get original software or else I will be the relentless advocate of pirated software no matter what the cost.

Nasi Lemak @ Changi Village

Junkie say thank you to Yuri for kindly giving a picture taken from the her mobile phone for me to us ein my blog. My picture mysteriously disappeared from my memory card, or I did not capture the image & I though I had. It is seriously time to consider changing my mobile due to the display problems.

Anyway since Yuri had a nasi lemak craving while we were at Changi Village to check out the prices of various mobile phones from Online Mobile (the only shop I would trust to get the best prices & service), so I queued up to get 2 chicken sets (chicken wing, ikan billis, egg). They cost SGD$2.50 which is the same as the famous Boon Lay Nasi Lemak but this is where the similarities end.

At Boon Lay, the service is superb. The people who serve you are friendly & enthusiastic, always with a smile. One of the malay brothers there even can speak simple chinese!!! I cannot say the same for the malay aunties behind the counter of this stall. They gave me a feeling of arrogance & nonchalance. At Boon Lay, the quality & flavour of the food is several classes above that of Changi Village even though the standard per se at Changi Village is reasonable, probably due to the fact that there is high food turnover. At Boon Lay, the portions are filling & there is variety. Changi Village Nasi Lemak's portions are pathetic & if you were to change an item for something else, they will still charge you SGD$2.50 in addition to the item you want changed. So if you want to change the ikan billis for an egg, they will not give you ikan billis, they will give you the egg you requested & started you an extra 50 cents which brings it to a brand total of SGD$3. Over at Boon Lay, they will charge me for whatever is on my plate. No more or no less.

In short, I do not understand why so many people patronize their stall even when they are given bad service & average food. It is definitely not worth queueing up for even 10 mins & the only time I will eat their food is once in a blue blue moon or when S.O. wants it.

Death Note

Finally got myself a copy of the Death Note. No, a Death God or Shinigami did not drop it or give it to me as a birthday present. I spent good money to get it from Comic Connection, which unfortunately the outlet I visited (Compan Point, Sengkang) only had 1 copy. Or else I would have gotten a few more to give it to deserving individuals.

It is an excellent replica of the Death Note as depicted in the anime, & comes complete with all the rules mentioned as the plot develops & also the names of people whom Yagami Light or other people like Misa wrote inside while using this Death Note to accomplish their motive.

Obviously it does not work as I have written my own name on the front page so that people will know that I am the owner. I am still very much well & alive although there will definitely be things I wish had turned out better & the way I want them to be.

I will be using it as my personal note book & jot down pointers which I think will be useful to share around. So if anybody of you see me carrying this around, please do not be alarmed & think I will write your name inside. However, do not try to piss me off deliberately in hope that I would take this book & write your name in it. Death Notes do not kill people but my warth will.

Terra Cafe @ Bugis Junction

A mid-priced cafe with decent service. Food is cheap & palatable Each set meal comes with soup (cream of chicken for that day) & dessert.

Mana123 had the sweet & sour fish, he claimed the fish was very fresh & the flavour goes well with the fish.

Yuri had this spicy Maggi-mee-like noodle which comes with some seafood.

Junkie had the potato gratin which was absolutely sinful. It is made up of slices of potatoes which cream & bits of bacon cover by a layer of grilled cheese. I am definitely not a fan of cheese but it goes well with the rest of the ingredients. Absolutely savory, definitely guaranteed to raise your overall cholesterol level.

Dessert of the day is a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Nothing to shout about.. Overall I recommend this place for it's relatively inexpensive food which worth more than it's price range. There is another branch at Vivocity but I have not been there to have a meal.

The Singapore Flyer, our fancy name for a really big ferris wheel. Wikipedia even mentioned Singapore in their entries!!! Anyway when it is completed, it will briefly hold the record for the largest observation / Ferris wheel. Here are some things that can be found on the official website.

The Singapore Flyer, a giant observation wheel that features brilliant engineering breakthroughs a world apart from the traditional ferris wheel, is set to be Asia's most visible iconic visitor attraction. When completed in March 2008, it will provide breathtaking, panoramic views of Singapore and beyond.

The Singapore Flyer will transform the visual landscape of the surrounding Marina Bay area. In addition to the Singapore Flyer, construction on Asia's largest business and financial centre has commenced and a world-class Integrated Resort (casino) is due to start operations in 2009. The Marina Barrage (a dam built across Singapore’s Marina channel) is also due for completion.

These, with three new uniquely-themed Gardens By the Bay and the Esplanade – Theatres by the Bay, will complete Marina Bay's "necklace of attractions". Marina Bay will thus be well poised to cater to commercial, residential and entertainment developments, in a designer garden city situated by the waterfront.

Seems like Marina area will be a prime residential area too, but it might be too close to the developments for those who prefer to have peace & quiet yet wanting to remain near the center of activity. The next best alternative would be living on Sentosa then. I estimate that a good sized bungalow will cost somewhere in the region of SGD$30 million. Sigh. I have to strike first prize in Toto a few consecutive times before I can accumulate this kind of money. Oh well, when it is completed, anybody want to accompany me up onto the Singapore Flyer?

Ah beng mood strikes again & I have decided to share this song with the rest of you guys. This used to be my final motivational song when I was running on the threadmill in the Orchard branch of California Gym. I usually set the threadmill for 20 mins on normal days & 30 mins when I feel like my body needs some punishment to wake itself up from depression, overeating, etc.

Yes, I do go to the gym in the past & managed to lose some of the excess baggage. No more gym kaki so going to the gym seems like more like a chore because I do not like going to the gym alone.

As the countdown approached the final 3 -4 minutes, I would switch to this song & increase the running speed to simulate a sprint at the end of my run. The breathlessness at the end of it can be very satisfying. Nevertheless that was all in the past, so do enjoy this blast from the past. Heez.

Another lazy day spent shopping for windows at Suntec City when my tired legs & sweet tooth craving got the better of me. So while Yuri went to get some Ice Blended from Coffee Bean, CunningDevil went next door (Ben & Jerry's) to get some really really expensive ice cream.

SGD$12 for three scoops!!! Even Haagen Dazs is not that expensive. I remember sharing a similar item at the branch at Jurong Point & it only cost SGD$8 (I think). A little bit on the history & flavours of this wonderful brand of ice cream.

Nevertheless, their ice cream is in a class above the rest & worth every penny or cent or whatever currency you prefer. Could not remember the flavours we had that day, but I was very very satisfied!!!

Mana123 & I were hungry one particular night & we decided to meet up for supper. We were sick of going Jalan Kayu for the overhyped prata & so we went to our old favourite hangout. A coffeeshop near Punggol Park. As I was eating my sinful supper, something caught my eye!!!. It was a cat but it had no legs!!! It slithered across the floor like a snake or rolled around when it feels like it. OMG!!! It looks like a freak of nature & some of the children who were there with their parents were extremeful fearful of this mutant & hid behind their parents & yet taking a peep at this strange animal. It got tired & rested under one of the tables. I plucked up my courage, inched my way forward & managed to take this picture of the legless cat as proof for all of you to see. It really has no legs!!!
