For Apple freaks & lovers
14th of Feburary, a day which has special significance for many people, especially couples. Attached (BGR / married) people call it Valentines's day, singles call it Friendship Day (trend started recently, I assumed).

Anyway, now seems like a good time to get those Mac goodies since iShop is offering a promotion. Wonder if the other Apple shops are following suit.

Lou hei @ 907 coffeeshop
Yusheng (Chinese: 鱼生; Hanyu Pinyin: yúshēng) is a Chinese-style raw fish salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. Literally translated, "yusheng" means "raw fish", though it can also be taken to symbolise abundance, prosperity and vigour.
It is a custom for families and friends to gather around the table and, on cue, proceeding to toss the shredded ingedients into the air with chopsticks while saying 吉祥话 (Jíxiáng Huà, auspicious wishes) out loud.
Typical ingredients include: fresh salmon, daikon (white radish), carrot, red pepper (capsicum), ginger, kaffir lime leaves, chinese parsley, chopped peanuts, toasted sesame seeds, Chinese shrimp crackers (or fried dried shrimp), five spice powder. The dressing is made primarily from plum sauce.

Seems like this entry was not updated properly, & another entry completed disappeared. I guesss I must have quit the browser by mistake. Sigh. Oh well, it was a Friday & it seems like it's the onnly day where all of us can have a common lunch break. So rather than compete with the lunchtime mad rush, we decided to eat outside of campus for a change in environment. Went to 907 coffeeshop, which is fast becoming out favourite haunt outside of school, in 2 nos cars because se7en & jasjas got drive today.
Zoom zoom, fast forward to the coffeeshop. Someone how suggested we have out own mini lou hei, so we asked what sizes does the yusheng come in & how much do they cost. the uncle said the small yushend cost 188. I was like WTF!!! got gold inside ah? He clarified that it cost 18.80sgd lah,. KNNCCB, say properly lah, not everyone understands your freaking lingo loh.
We also ordered an individual dish like hor fun or fried rice to complement the yusheng, & needless to say, afterlunch, we were stuffed. Hope we don't fall asleep in lecture later. Heez.

The Ring Bearer
In The Lord of the Rings, by J. R. R. Tolkien, Frodo Baggins is appointed to be the Ring-bearer by the Council of Elrond in Rivendell. He was to carry the One Ring from Rivendell to the Crack of Doom in Mordor and destroy it before Sauron's minions, the Ringwraiths could retrieve it for their Dark Lord.
The title is also given to two other hobbits who carried the One Ring. They were Bilbo Baggins and Frodo's companion Sam Gamgee (who carried it briefly in Mordor). Because of their position as Ring-bearers, they were granted the right to travel to the Undying Lands.
Others bore the Ring during its existence, but were not classified as Ring-bearers. They include:
* Sauron, who made it.
* Isildur, who cut it from Sauron's finger and wore it until it slipped off into the Gladden
river just before his death.
* Gollum, who murdered Déagol to get it, and later took it back from Frodo.
* Tom Bombadil, on whom it had no effect.
Two others handled the Ring but did not actually wear it: Déagol, who found it in the Gladden, and Gandalf, who held it only long enough to toss it in the fire. (In the movie, Gandalf avoids touching it at all, but in the book he does handle it very briefly.)
One interpretation of the Ring-bearer role, may be found in Peter Kjaerulff's The Ringbearer's Diary. Frodo's carrying the ring all the way back to Mt. Doom, symbolizes the task of carrying the weight of destructive emotions all the way to their origin. The ring symbolizes the central "knot" of the negative emotions.

The be@rbrick is my personal ring-bearer. He bears a ring, that reminds of my past. The ring has since tarnished. Poor bear. I did not want him to bear the pain alone. But...

Mahjong session in Hall 6
Today, after school, some of my friends have the urge to play mahjong, so we decided to gather in Gabby's room to play as she stays in a single room, & Alvin (staying in the same block) has the mahjong tiles & mahjong table.
People in attendance:
Junhui (new friend!!!)
Elvin
Gabby (of course!!!)
Yen chua (erm, if you don't like the nick, I can change it)
Yours truely (ah ku lah, bodoh!!!)
Bin bin (cameo appearance)
Cynthia (cameo appearance)
Ah meng tong xue
Bin bin went off early to meet her darling, Cynthia went off for some unknown reason. Maybe she has a secret lover, like Gabby, who keeps her secret lover in her cupboard. Heez. Please don't be angry with me for exposing your secret, Gabby.
It's now about 1947hrs & we are still playing. I'm hungry, sleepy & badly need a shower after a long day in school. Come to think of it, I always need a shower. So I always wear a lot of perfume to cover my funky smell (heez, yen chua taught me this).
Hope the game ends soon so we all can go for dinner. Then I can go back to hall & study (YAH RIGHT!!!).
Ja neh!!!
