England will win the World Cup?

I was reading today's edition of The New Paper when I came across this article on the back page. It claims that England will win this year's World Cup because of certain signs, or coincidences, I would say instead. They are as follows:

  • It is England 7th World Cup Finals appearance since 1966 (the year in which they won their only World Cup)
  • It takes 7 games to win the trophy, i.e. 3 nos group stage matches, round of 16 match (or some people call it the 2nd round knockout match), quarter finals match (or round of 8 match), semi finals & of course the finals.
  • The worlds "winner", "England", "captain" & "Beckham" all have 7 letters. In case you all did not notice, "Raymond" also has 7 letters but I'mnot at the World Cup. Just rotting at home & growing fat, hahaha.
  • England captain, Beckham, wears the no 7 shirt.
  • In Germany, the finals is on Sunday, the 7th day of the week, in July, the 7th month of the year. (Actually, in the 7th year of the 21st century, becos 2000 is the 1st year right? I spotted this myself!!!). So it's on the 7th day of the week, in the 7th month of the 7th year of the 7th year of this century. Quite a mouthful.
  • England topped their group with 7 points, to set up a clash with Ecuador, which has 7 letters in its name.
  • England have had 7 nos full-time managers who have failed to win the World Cup.
  • Sven-Goran Eriksson has a 7-strong backroom staff. His full first name is Svennis, which has 7 letters.
So guys, England fans or otherwise, are the signs there? Will Wngland win the World Cup for only the 2nd time after so many years? Only God knows what the future holds for the soccer nations. Although I do not have a favourite team I hope will win the World Cup, there are a few teams I hope will not win the World Cup. Italy is definitely on my list. Another team is France.

Instant noodles anyone?

I can't sleep, & I'm feeling a little hungry. If only I can cook instant noodles like Takayama, no more hungry nights liao, & I'm sure I will be very popular with the ladies. Heez.

Ja neh!!!

P.S. Those small mineral water bottles are so cute!!! Kawaii!!!

Cyril Takayama

You have guessed it right, I just got back from watching the Brazil vs Ghana match & now waiting for my hair to dry. Heez. My life is becoming a routine, & my tummy is rumbling again. Anyway some magic for you guys, & I hope you all have someone to bring some magic into your life too. Doesn't have to be those lovey dovey type of magic, but someone who also made an impact in your life. Someone who made you see things in color once again when all you could see was black & white in the past. Someone who has made you stop long enough to smell the roses & make you realize that there are more things in life than running the rat race to the top. Maybe someone who brought you back from the dead (figuratively lah!!!) or brought your feet back onto the ground when you head was previously up in the clouds.

Magic, sometimes takes our breathe away, sometimes remind us to dream of the impossible & make it possible.

Anyway, enjoy his magic, some japanese guy who is the Asian version of David Blane (is this how his name is spelt?).

Abracadabra!!! (How come so many bra inside ah???)

To connect or not to connect, that is my question

Been seeing this advertisment in the newspapers for quite a while so I decided to take a look at the details on their website. It is quite an attractive option for people who carry their notebooks almost everywhere they go, & they can be connected to the net when there is no WAN / WLAN / LAN. For a student studying in NTU, the whole campus is covered by NTU's network, however CITS is filled with morons & moronic people who ban / filter out websites with anything vaguely obscene in them to the point of slapping themselves in the face. If you think I'm making this up or making it sound worse than it really is, I invite you to come to out school for a little trip down our policed information highway.

Internet access isn't really free elsewhere too, since those at Burger King or Changi Airport or Suntec City or Coffee Bean need some form of subscription. So I guess this is a universal option, where you need only 1 network card to surf them all. What's more, the 68sgd bill is for unlimited data transfer, so if nobody else uses internet at home, it's more practical to get this plan rather than a seperate network for the home.

Do note that this does not work on a Mac (not fair!!!). Sigh. The whole world can turn against us, but we Mac users will prevail & prove that you can bring us down, but you can never take us out. Oh, light users can opt for the cheaper plans with allocated data limits. Exceeding them is not really advisable because it will cost you extra.

Be careful when you visit the toilet

If this was done in Singapore, I think the organizers will be in deep shit liao. Enjoy the video!!!

Those Japanese!!!

Nothing to say, sometimes we hate them, but I do believe we love them most of the time.

(Excludes stuff that they did during World War 2)

The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

Once again, after coming back from a late night soccer match (I was watching the match, not exactly playing the game, which explains the beer belly that is getting bigger & bigger by the match) & while waiting for my hair to dry, I decided to surf the net & look for more videos to watch on YouTube.

Ta da!!!

I have found a video that I could classify as S.B.C., not Singapore Broadcasting Center, but Si Beh Classic!!! Wonder when was the first time I heard this song. I also wonder how come I like this song. Hmmm.

Anyway, enjoy the S.B.C. song.

Fastest Finger First

It is that time of the semester again, where all students, at their designated times, will play this game we all hate to play, called Fastest Finger First. It is just another name for our subject / module registration process where everybody has an equal chance to get the limited time slots for each module / subject.

For every subject, there is only one slot of the lectures but a few options for the tutorials. That is what we are trying to arrange into an oder that we are most comfortable with. Some people like to have a free day within the study week, so the lessons are pretty packed. Others want a more spreaded-out arrangement. Early birds want to start early & end early while a lot of students staying in hostel might want to start the day late & do not mind ending late. Some do not want many breaks in between lessons, the rest do not mind. So everybody's timetable is a bit different from the rest.

The modules you take in each semester also determine the outcome of this game. Some modules like Prescribed Electives will clash with Core Modules & you are forced to drop some in oder to register for the rest.

Anyway, I do not want to bore you with the specifics of this game. All you need to know is it might cause serious heart problems & breathing difficulties, hence it only takes place once a semester. Here is the tentative timetable I am aiming for. Awaiting approval to take the next higher level module. Sigh.

All there is to do now is to wait for the add / drop period.

Toad the Wet Sprocket - All I Want

There is absolutely nothing for me to do at home & there is nobody around at home. Sigh. I should be planning my timetable but instead I am surfing through YouTube listening to MTVs. Maybe I should do a little research on how to go about placing wagers on tonight's matches. 8038 just bought 50sgd on Argentina (Holland vs Argentina). I wish her all the best!!! Subject registration is tomorrow, time for fastest finger fist again. 1 time too many liao. If you know what I am talking about. Oh well.

Anyway enjoy this classic. I remember listening to this song when i was very young, maybe when I was in Primary 6 or in Secondary 1 or 2, which isn't that long really. Just 12 - 14 years ago!!! I'm 26 years old & all I have to my name is a pile of credit card bills!!!

The price you have to pay for studying until university, when I'm not really good in studying. All my friends who went to polytechnic have gotten married, have their own house & cars. I graduate from NTU with a piece of toilet paper & that doesn't means I have a job waiting for me. I might even have lesser change to get the job as compared to a Diploma holder. Sigh.

nothing's so loud
as hearing when we lie
the truth is not kind
and you've said neither am i
but the air outside so soft is saying everything
everything

all i want is to feel this way
to be this close, to feel the same
all i want is to feel this way
the evening speaks, i feel it say...

nothing's so cold
as closing the heart when all we need
is to free the soul
but we wouldn't be that brave i know
and the air outside so soft, confessing everything
everything

and it won't matter now
whatever happens to me
though the air speaks of all we'll never be
it won't trouble me

and it feels so close
let it take me in
let it hold me so
i can feel it say...

Life sucks, live with it!!!

Avril Lavigine - Complicated

Hmmm, do I have a thing for rocker chicks? Well, she's very special, & this is my favourite song by Avril Lavigne. Enjoy it folks!!!

Uh-huh,
Life's like this
Uh-huh, uh-huh
That's the way it is
'Cause life's like this
Uh-huh, uh-huh
That's the way it is

Chill out,
What you yellin' for?
Lay back, it's all been done before
And if you could only let it be
You will see

I like you the way you are
When we're, driving in my car
And you're talking to me
One on one
But you become

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
Watchin' your back
Like you can't relax
You're tryin' to be cool
You look like a fool
To me

Tell me

Why do you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're
Acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall and you crawl
And you break and you take
What you get and you turn it into
Honesty Promise me I'm never gonna find you fake it

No, no, no

You come over unannounced
Dressed up like you're something else
Where you are and
Where you sat, you see
You're making me
Laugh out
When you strike a pose
Take off all your preppy clothes
You know
You're not fooling anyone
When you become

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
Watchin' your back
Like you can't relax
Tryin' to be cool
You look like a fool
To me

Tell me

Why do you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're
Acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall and you crawl
And you break and you take
What you get and you turn it into
Honesty Promise me
I'm never gonna find you fake it

No, no, no...

Chill out,
What you yellin' for?
Lay back, it's all been done before
And if you could let it be
You will see

Somebody else
'Round everyone else
You're watchin' your back
Like you can't relax
You're tryin' to be cool
You look like a fool
To me, to me

Why do you have to go and make things so complicated?
I see the way you're
Acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you
And you fall and you crawl
And you break and you take
What you get and you turn it into
Honesty Promise me I'm never gonna find you fake it

Acting like you're somebody else gets me frustrated
Life's like this, you

Be true to yourself, don't fake it, cheers!!!

The cursed match

Friends told me that England has not won a game in the past 15 years, or was it 50 years? Hmmm. My ears need a checkup. Anyway it was a really long time, & England could only draw or lose to Sweden, so the logical wager would be to "eat balls" or get an positive asian handicap right? No, my backside was itchy, the England supporter in me was strong & rampant, so I "give / put balls" or got a negative asian handicap. In the end, my joy turned into pain when they equalized at the 90th minute!!! The curse is true!!! Chou Ji Dan!!!

Another low point of the match came as early as the 4th minute when Owen was injured (I do not know how) & had to be subsituted by Peter Crouch. Sigh. How come strikers get injured all the time? First it was Rooney, then Owen. I guess even if they do not get to play competitive soccer in future, all the money they are making now & the insurance payout is more than enough to last 3 generations. Maybe it would last just half a generation for them because they are not as thrifty & investment orientated as Asians are in general. Heez.

Please be careful on the pitch & get any more injuries hor!!! Wait no more strikers for England liao. Sigh.

Ja neh!!!

Kimchi is better than Escargots

I do not like kimchi & I definitely do not have the courage to try escargots. Wonder how come people like eating snails, even though they are bred in farms like chicken. Hmmm. Anyway South Korea has done Asia proud by holding the mighty French to a draw, especially with all the talent & superstars in the French team like Henry, Zidane, etc.

When will Singapore be represented on the world stage?

Sigh.

Ja neh!!!

No goal avalanche from Samba Masters

Not quite the trashing some of us were expecting from the great Brazilians, winners of 5 out of 17 World Cups. Australia, on the other hand, were making their debuts in soccer's most prestigeous competition. Must credit should be given to the Aussie coach. I heard that every team he has coached made it into the World Cup Finals. QUite a track. I have also heard that he was appraoched by Singapore & he turned down the offer to coach our Lions. Oh dear. Are we really that hopeless?

A lot of focus was on Mr Cheeseburger aka Ronaldo. Sigh. He has lost his explosive runs, his fearsome shots on goal & quite a lot of other physical aspects of the game. He looks tired, almost nonchalant. However, I do believe he is trying up make up his lack of speed & enegry with intelligent play. I guess it's time to use the brain more than those muscles, Mr Cheeseburger.

He did make a few great moves & I do believe he reads the game as well as he did previously. Cheeseburger still has almost all of his ball control skills & if he sheds the extra kilos, he should be able to do do more justice to the 4-2-4 formation. Which team have you heard of that plays with 4 strikers & only 2 midfielders!!! Maddness!!!

Zzzzzz monster coming liao.

Oyasumi Nasai!!!

The day 10 Italians cannot beat 9 Americans in soccer

Nothing much to say because I am really pissed off with those Italians. Make me lose money nevermind, play like shit somemore. Sigh. The referee even more power. I think FIFA told him got card bonus & free kick bonus. 1 yellow card got 10000 Euros as bonus , 1 red card is 25000 Euros. Free kicks are not really free but 500 Euros a piece. Italy, I look down on you!!! Pui chao nuah.

Safe sex on planes

For my sexually-active friends in general , or those planning to joing the Mile High Club, please do practice safe sex & wear a condom for 1 of the simplest & most effective family planning methods.

Largest defeat in World Cup 2006 so far

Serbia & Montenegro was eaten alive by Argentina in the 2nd match of yesterday. Not literally eaten alive, but somehow I feel that the pain would not have been as great as if it was literal. Well, 3-0 is considered a thrashing by the opposition at national level, but at international level? Hmmm. All the "face" gone already. So if you had a choice between losing 6-0 & being eaten alive, which you you choose? As a soccer diehard fan, they probably would choose to become a meal for another person. Ouch!!!

Soccer legend & junkie Maradona was seen cheering his head off. He was so estastic, he could burst a vessel somewhere in his body. Must be a really great feeling if you have been there, done that & get to see the next generation repeat the same success you have tasted once before. He's rather controversial but I guess we will have to let his skills on the pitch decide whether he is a great player & not by how he lives his life outside of the soccer stadium.

Next match to match I guess is Brazil vs Australia. Will there be a goal avalanche?

Ja neh!!!

Singaporean referee sends off Angolan

The last match of the day, Mexico vs Angola produced quite an upset in wee hours of the morning (Singapore time). I took a small interest in the match because it was officiated by a referee from our very own backyard!!! Wow!!! Even though Singapore probably will never qualify for the finals of the FIFA World Cup, despite some minister coming up with some Singapore 2010 plan, our tiny nation was represented in another area. Maybe this might spur some of us to be excellent, world class referees instead of trying so hard to be samba masters or shrew tacticians. I guess it is easier to find 1 world class referee instead of 23 world class soccer players.

Anyway, I had no urge to bet on this match, mostly because I do not know much about the players that are playing for their respective countries & also because they are not the traditional powerhouses of soccer, like England, Brazil, Argentina, etc. I wonder if they have a professional league in their own countries, or if they do, whether it is as competitive as those in the English Premier League, Seria A, German Bundesliga, etc.

The highlight for me was the deliberate handball by this African brother of ours. It was totally blatant & personally I think he deserves a straight red card, instead of the second yellow card which translates into a sending off. He should also be banned from all matches for 3 months. This really is my personal view, but if I had things done my way, Mexico should also be given a direct free kick with no goalkeeper because if he choses not to play by the rules, then Angola should be punished in the way that hurts them the most. A lost would have sent them out of the tornament but yet they can't go home because they still have to play their 3rd match of the First Round. Imagine the agony for the whole team, not just the bad African brother.

The picture was taken without permission from Soccernet.

Jean, I will always love you

Don't ask me how, don't ask me why, or when. I just do. Hmmm... Honestly, between you & me, I was overjoyed when I heard that she broke up wif Daniel Ong. Maybe I think too much liao. Okie okie, got to get out of my own world & come back to the real world, where she's a DJ, I'm a struggling student & we do not know each other personally. She doesn't know of my existence, I don't know what's her favourite or phone number. Sigh.

The real world sucks!!!

Boring day

Nothing much happened in the past few days since the last post. Had my GP 07 exams yesterday which was a disaster. The exam questions were no surprises. I even managed to spot the first compulsory question & a few others before the exam but there was a severe lack of preparation. Too little too late, again. Sigh, when will I ever learn my lesson. Maybe I should just post some pictures I have in my computer. Anyway the weather is pretty cool this morning, making it a nice day to sleep in, but I know I should probably pack my room or go to the gym or book my IPPT. How come I procrastinate so much? Must be some bad gene I have in my body. Wonder who gave the gene to me?

The mouse is probably having more fun than I have in my whole life!!! He (I assume it's a male, no reasons for my assumption) knows what he wants & how to get it. He takes risks & lives life to the fullest. I just live day by day. There's something seriously wrong with me. How can I have a life-changing experience that would make me the opposite of what I am now? Hmmm...

Anybody out there had something (nice or otherwise) happened to them that let them see life in a different way? Please share.

Ja neh!!!

Cars

Yup yup yup!!! You guessed right!!! Mei mei treat us to movies again. This time it's the latest animation by Pixar & Disney, Cars. How was the movie? Only one word. Wicked!!! This is for everyone, children, adults, courting couples, bored people, busybodies, everybody.

(Picture taken from Golden Village website hor!!!)

In a nutshell, bad boy meets nice girl & grows up into a mature & sensible "car". Sometimes talent gets to our heads, & when we have a little success, we burned down the bridges that we crossed & think we do not ever need a bridge (friends in the case) ever again. Personally, I know someone who fits perfectly into the bridge-burning category.

Bring some tissue if your tap opens easily & your muscus flows freely, because it has drama, suspense, romance & moral-of-the-story in this storyline. It's pretty long for an amimation (120mins vs normal 90mins). If I was a movie critic, I would give it 8.5 stars out of 10 stars for depth, excellent technical expertise, storyline, etc etc. My mum even asked me if I could "download" it. Gasp!!! Mum, we must "support" original DVDs!!! Yah, correct hor? Remember people, do the right thing!!!

Hmmm, that sounds familiar.

Anyway, do catch it if you don't know what movie to catch. I will not guarantee your money back, but chances are you won't be disappointed.

Ja neh!!!

4D second prize!!!

Ladies & gentlemen, drum roll please...

Heez, for the first time in my life, I have struck lottery!!! Second prize no less!!! Wow!!! I still have not gotten over the excitment when I received the call from my friend, saying that the number I bought "opened" on Sunday.

Okie okie, deep breathes. Phew. Not really a large amount of money (3000sgd vs 124sgd) because I bought iBet instead of system roll (beat the number 24 times) but the significance is in the striking of second prize. I never really won anything in my life (wait a minute, didn't I win a 50sgd voucher from Best Deki?), but in a lottery? Wicked!!!

As usual, I took the picture from the official Singapore Pools website. I hope the Government or S'pore Pools will not be so calculating & tell me to take down the picture. Now that I have got some spare cash, what should I do with it? Hmmm...

Hmmm...

It is World Cup season...

Hmmm...

3 matches will be played tonight...

Erm...

Singapore Pools
, here I come!!!

Hahaha, bet responsibily people, because if gambling causes more harm than excitment, then you might as well use the money buy expensive shoes or cosmestics for your missus or maybe drinks at the watering hole.

Ja neh!!!

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me

Adopted from the following website.

Nobody loves me

Everybody hates me
I think I'll go and eat worms
Big fat gooshy ones
Wee skinny ooshy ones
See how they wriggle and squirm
And you bite off the heads
And you slurp out the juice
And you throw the skins away
Nobody knows how I will thrive
On worms three times a day

Update on GP07 examination tips

Today I was studying alone for the coming GP07 exam at Kallang Mac. Was looking through the tips & the lesson plan when I realized that the tutor had effectively told us to study 95% of the content. What tips?!! Phew chao nuah!!!

He just read from the lecture summary that he gave us on the first day of lessons. I though he was a nice guy who understands how serious we are about General Electives & want to help us in our revision by leaving out the things he will not set questions on. But NNNNnnnnooooooooo, he wants us to study everything. He wouldn't even confirm with us the format of the exam paper.

I really thought he was on our side, now come to think of it, he is trying to throw a huge smoke bomb and confuse all of us. Sigh.

Guys, just study everything lah, don't even hope the past year paper he gave us will be of any help. And don't be like me, take 6 modules, bao 3, the rest all D-. How stewpig can a person get? Time to quit smoking soon, who knows what it is doing to my brain. Time to quit drinking, who knows what it is doing to my brain too. Time to eat those bloody farking books (actually, mostly lecture notes & tutorials lah, not much textbooks)!!!

Ee-tah-dah-key-mahss (itadakimasu)!!!

The nun

My sister was so nice to treat me to a movie. Actually in the end, Mum paid by OCBC card because she wanted 10 times more "reward points". Personally I feel that those points are utterly useless because you might need to spend the equilavent of 10000sgd before you have enough points to redeem a stewpig OCBC mug, for example. Only when you spend millions of dollars on theur credit cards will you get sometimes substantial, like maybe a pair of free movie tickets. Oh well. We can't really live without credit cars, & those stuff really are just a bonous.

Anyway It was a crowded Saturday evening as I had my dinner at Pasta Mania (Tampines Mall). Creamy chicken, with lots of chilli flakes. Just the way I like it. It turned out to be a little too spicy & due to the huge human traffic & the door linking the indoor sitting area to the outdoor sitting area won't stay close, I was perspiring.

Finally it's time for wait for entry into the cinema. Golden Village must really be cutting back costs to increase their already sky-high profit margins. Only 1 poor butch, i mean active, I mean sexually confused person was at the entrance, checking the tickets & directing patrons to their respective cinemas. Finally another girl came out from Cinema 3 to help. I asked her when can we enter because it was already 2125hrs & our show is supposed to start at 2130hrs. At almost the same time, another woman asked her if she could help her retrive her bag of "food bought from outside". The extremely rude girl mumbered under her breathe not too softly "bu yao cao wo lah". %$#@&*^^%@%#

So horrible service right? Freaking pissed off at such service given to us patrons when we watch orginal films in cinemas, pay so much for their bloody tickets & farked up popcorn & this is how they train their stuff. I really advocate piracy if this is going to be the case. If you download the movie from the various Bittorrent sites, it might take a little longer, but the cost is really next to nothing, except the electricity bill leaving the computer switched on. After that, it's movies on demand. You can eat whatever you want, drink whatever you want, in the comfort of your own home. If you need to go to the bathroom, just pause & I'm sure your friends & family will not mind taking a break too. Drinking alcohol during such a movie will not seem weird now. Smoking is possible too. No more GV staff to spoil your movie experience. There is a reason why such piracy still exists despite lawsuits being filed all the time. Why must we help movie starts buy another multi-million dollar home when we are stuggling with our own cost of living. It's not like we know the movie stars personally & it's always nice to help a friend or relative. I support piracy, because that is how the law of economics work.

Why pay for something when you can get it free? All that crap about piracy is stealing might be true, but when it comes to making my money, you better work doubly hard. Remember that anti-piracy advertisment where they keep saying you wouldn't steal a car or a cd, so don't engage in piracy because it's the same thing? Well, getting caught for stealing a cd is way easier, so I don't do it. And I don't really know how to steal a car unless the doors are unlocked & the key is in the ignition.

Ooops I deviated too far away from my original topic, the movie. Basically I give it 5 out of 10 stars. It is scary but the ending is like End of Worlds. You will scratch your head & say &%$#@(*&&!!!

Erm, if you want to know what the movie is all about, click on the picture to enlarge it. I print screen GV's website because I can't find any nice presentations of the information I wanted. Maybe those people at GV might say I'm stealing from their website. Sigh. I'm just going to say to these people, FUCK YOU BITCH!!!

Ja neh!!!

I want to disclaim that these tips are what I have taken note when Francis Lim gave a short summary of what is important. There are by no means conclusive or definitive. Do not treat it like it will come out in the exams. Tutors & lecturers have a bad reputation of confusing students with tips. Just study hard & if I have done a proper revision, I will post whatever I have discovered here. So do watch for any updates or new posts.

GP07 presentation

The final day of our Special Semester General Elective lesson. The presentation. Running on pure adrenaline due to lack of sleep. I was the fourth person to make my presentation that morning , out of 13 people. Jasmine & another guy made theirs on Monday.

Ben making his presentation on how to assemble high performance teams. I think.

Darence giving his presentation on how to manage organizational change or something like that. My presentation was on innovation.

Due to time constraints, there was no break given that day, & everybody was told to just dive into the gist of the topic. No lengthy background introduction, no history lesson on how the company came out. Just introduction, recommendations, conclusions, questions from tutor & the floor. Wham, bam, thank you madam, just the way I like it. If you are thinking dirty, of course I understand the fundamentals & importance of building on the mood and foreplay, but sometimes, I want to be in the driver's seat. Actually, most of the time. Wait, make that ALL of the time. Muahahahahaha (evil laughter).

Everybody did a very good job with their report & presentation. Heez.

Ja neh!!!
