Boring day

Nothing much happened in the past few days since the last post. Had my GP 07 exams yesterday which was a disaster. The exam questions were no surprises. I even managed to spot the first compulsory question & a few others before the exam but there was a severe lack of preparation. Too little too late, again. Sigh, when will I ever learn my lesson. Maybe I should just post some pictures I have in my computer. Anyway the weather is pretty cool this morning, making it a nice day to sleep in, but I know I should probably pack my room or go to the gym or book my IPPT. How come I procrastinate so much? Must be some bad gene I have in my body. Wonder who gave the gene to me?

The mouse is probably having more fun than I have in my whole life!!! He (I assume it's a male, no reasons for my assumption) knows what he wants & how to get it. He takes risks & lives life to the fullest. I just live day by day. There's something seriously wrong with me. How can I have a life-changing experience that would make me the opposite of what I am now? Hmmm...

Anybody out there had something (nice or otherwise) happened to them that let them see life in a different way? Please share.

Ja neh!!!

Cars

Yup yup yup!!! You guessed right!!! Mei mei treat us to movies again. This time it's the latest animation by Pixar & Disney, Cars. How was the movie? Only one word. Wicked!!! This is for everyone, children, adults, courting couples, bored people, busybodies, everybody.

(Picture taken from Golden Village website hor!!!)

In a nutshell, bad boy meets nice girl & grows up into a mature & sensible "car". Sometimes talent gets to our heads, & when we have a little success, we burned down the bridges that we crossed & think we do not ever need a bridge (friends in the case) ever again. Personally, I know someone who fits perfectly into the bridge-burning category.

Bring some tissue if your tap opens easily & your muscus flows freely, because it has drama, suspense, romance & moral-of-the-story in this storyline. It's pretty long for an amimation (120mins vs normal 90mins). If I was a movie critic, I would give it 8.5 stars out of 10 stars for depth, excellent technical expertise, storyline, etc etc. My mum even asked me if I could "download" it. Gasp!!! Mum, we must "support" original DVDs!!! Yah, correct hor? Remember people, do the right thing!!!

Hmmm, that sounds familiar.

Anyway, do catch it if you don't know what movie to catch. I will not guarantee your money back, but chances are you won't be disappointed.

Ja neh!!!

4D second prize!!!

Ladies & gentlemen, drum roll please...

Heez, for the first time in my life, I have struck lottery!!! Second prize no less!!! Wow!!! I still have not gotten over the excitment when I received the call from my friend, saying that the number I bought "opened" on Sunday.

Okie okie, deep breathes. Phew. Not really a large amount of money (3000sgd vs 124sgd) because I bought iBet instead of system roll (beat the number 24 times) but the significance is in the striking of second prize. I never really won anything in my life (wait a minute, didn't I win a 50sgd voucher from Best Deki?), but in a lottery? Wicked!!!

As usual, I took the picture from the official Singapore Pools website. I hope the Government or S'pore Pools will not be so calculating & tell me to take down the picture. Now that I have got some spare cash, what should I do with it? Hmmm...

Hmmm...

It is World Cup season...

Hmmm...

3 matches will be played tonight...

Erm...

Singapore Pools
, here I come!!!

Hahaha, bet responsibily people, because if gambling causes more harm than excitment, then you might as well use the money buy expensive shoes or cosmestics for your missus or maybe drinks at the watering hole.

Ja neh!!!

Pan Pacific Hotel

Incredible machines

Wonder how come people can be so free to make this type of machines. Anyway, enjoy the show, which lasts around 10 mins. Japanese really smart. I should start eating brain food like fish liao.

Sashimi anyone???

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me

Adopted from the following website.

Nobody loves me

Everybody hates me
I think I'll go and eat worms
Big fat gooshy ones
Wee skinny ooshy ones
See how they wriggle and squirm
And you bite off the heads
And you slurp out the juice
And you throw the skins away
Nobody knows how I will thrive
On worms three times a day

Update on GP07 examination tips

Today I was studying alone for the coming GP07 exam at Kallang Mac. Was looking through the tips & the lesson plan when I realized that the tutor had effectively told us to study 95% of the content. What tips?!! Phew chao nuah!!!

He just read from the lecture summary that he gave us on the first day of lessons. I though he was a nice guy who understands how serious we are about General Electives & want to help us in our revision by leaving out the things he will not set questions on. But NNNNnnnnooooooooo, he wants us to study everything. He wouldn't even confirm with us the format of the exam paper.

I really thought he was on our side, now come to think of it, he is trying to throw a huge smoke bomb and confuse all of us. Sigh.

Guys, just study everything lah, don't even hope the past year paper he gave us will be of any help. And don't be like me, take 6 modules, bao 3, the rest all D-. How stewpig can a person get? Time to quit smoking soon, who knows what it is doing to my brain. Time to quit drinking, who knows what it is doing to my brain too. Time to eat those bloody farking books (actually, mostly lecture notes & tutorials lah, not much textbooks)!!!

Ee-tah-dah-key-mahss (itadakimasu)!!!

The nun

My sister was so nice to treat me to a movie. Actually in the end, Mum paid by OCBC card because she wanted 10 times more "reward points". Personally I feel that those points are utterly useless because you might need to spend the equilavent of 10000sgd before you have enough points to redeem a stewpig OCBC mug, for example. Only when you spend millions of dollars on theur credit cards will you get sometimes substantial, like maybe a pair of free movie tickets. Oh well. We can't really live without credit cars, & those stuff really are just a bonous.

Anyway It was a crowded Saturday evening as I had my dinner at Pasta Mania (Tampines Mall). Creamy chicken, with lots of chilli flakes. Just the way I like it. It turned out to be a little too spicy & due to the huge human traffic & the door linking the indoor sitting area to the outdoor sitting area won't stay close, I was perspiring.

Finally it's time for wait for entry into the cinema. Golden Village must really be cutting back costs to increase their already sky-high profit margins. Only 1 poor butch, i mean active, I mean sexually confused person was at the entrance, checking the tickets & directing patrons to their respective cinemas. Finally another girl came out from Cinema 3 to help. I asked her when can we enter because it was already 2125hrs & our show is supposed to start at 2130hrs. At almost the same time, another woman asked her if she could help her retrive her bag of "food bought from outside". The extremely rude girl mumbered under her breathe not too softly "bu yao cao wo lah". %$#@&*^^%@%#

So horrible service right? Freaking pissed off at such service given to us patrons when we watch orginal films in cinemas, pay so much for their bloody tickets & farked up popcorn & this is how they train their stuff. I really advocate piracy if this is going to be the case. If you download the movie from the various Bittorrent sites, it might take a little longer, but the cost is really next to nothing, except the electricity bill leaving the computer switched on. After that, it's movies on demand. You can eat whatever you want, drink whatever you want, in the comfort of your own home. If you need to go to the bathroom, just pause & I'm sure your friends & family will not mind taking a break too. Drinking alcohol during such a movie will not seem weird now. Smoking is possible too. No more GV staff to spoil your movie experience. There is a reason why such piracy still exists despite lawsuits being filed all the time. Why must we help movie starts buy another multi-million dollar home when we are stuggling with our own cost of living. It's not like we know the movie stars personally & it's always nice to help a friend or relative. I support piracy, because that is how the law of economics work.

Why pay for something when you can get it free? All that crap about piracy is stealing might be true, but when it comes to making my money, you better work doubly hard. Remember that anti-piracy advertisment where they keep saying you wouldn't steal a car or a cd, so don't engage in piracy because it's the same thing? Well, getting caught for stealing a cd is way easier, so I don't do it. And I don't really know how to steal a car unless the doors are unlocked & the key is in the ignition.

Ooops I deviated too far away from my original topic, the movie. Basically I give it 5 out of 10 stars. It is scary but the ending is like End of Worlds. You will scratch your head & say &%$#@(*&&!!!

Erm, if you want to know what the movie is all about, click on the picture to enlarge it. I print screen GV's website because I can't find any nice presentations of the information I wanted. Maybe those people at GV might say I'm stealing from their website. Sigh. I'm just going to say to these people, FUCK YOU BITCH!!!

Ja neh!!!

GP07 examination tips

Ladies & gentlemen, here are the tips that our dear tutor has given to us after the last presentations. For those of you who have missed the lesson, I hope you can make sense of what I wrote here because I did not sleep the night before just to finish rushing the report & presentation. For those of you who were there for the lesson, compare this with what you have copied & if there are any differences, please let me know.

Do ignore the comment about ass rimming.

Here are the parts which I think are important.

Lecture 1 (Understanding Organization)

  • Introduction to organization (its vision, mission & values)
  • Characteristic features of an organization
  • Elements of organization structure
  • Function of organizations
Lecture 2 (Organization Coporate Culture)
  • Definition of coporate culture
  • Cultural typologies (types of organizational structure lah!!!)
  • Fostering a people-centered culture
  • Examples of cultural change
Lecture 3 (Creating Team-based Organizations)
  • Principles for managing people in a team-based organization
  • Understanding the elements of a team-based organization
  • Establish measurement criteria & feedback systems
  • Performance based rewards and compensation
Lecture 5 (Framework for Organization Change) (Should be one of the more important lectures)
  • Needs & benefits to change
  • Conditions for organizational change
  • Models for systematic planned change
  • Analysing change models
Lecture 6 (Concepts for Management of Change)
  • Targets of organization change
  • Task of implementing change
  • Problems & barriers to change
  • Importance of employee participation & involvement in change
  • Guidelines to implementing change
Lecture 8 (Organization Development Techniques & Skills)
  • Definition of OD (not overdose hor!!!, organizational development hor!!!)
  • Characteristics of OD process
  • OD techniques
  • OD skills
Lecture 10 (Motivation)
  • Myths of motivation
  • Theories of motivation
  • Integrative approaches to motivation
Lecture 11 (Holistic Approaches to Managing Change)
  • Total Quality Management (TQM) (I got a feeling this is not crucial)
  • Success factors in TQM (I also got a feeling this is not crucial)
  • Business process re-engineering (I feel that we should concentrate on this)
I want to disclaim that these tips are what I have taken note when Francis Lim gave a short summary of what is important. There are by no means conclusive or definitive. Do not treat it like it will come out in the exams. Tutors & lecturers have a bad reputation of confusing students with tips. Just study hard & if I have done a proper revision, I will post whatever I have discovered here. So do watch for any updates or new posts.

Gambattee!!!

GP07 presentation

The final day of our Special Semester General Elective lesson. The presentation. Running on pure adrenaline due to lack of sleep. I was the fourth person to make my presentation that morning , out of 13 people. Jasmine & another guy made theirs on Monday.

Ben making his presentation on how to assemble high performance teams. I think.

Darence giving his presentation on how to manage organizational change or something like that. My presentation was on innovation.

Due to time constraints, there was no break given that day, & everybody was told to just dive into the gist of the topic. No lengthy background introduction, no history lesson on how the company came out. Just introduction, recommendations, conclusions, questions from tutor & the floor. Wham, bam, thank you madam, just the way I like it. If you are thinking dirty, of course I understand the fundamentals & importance of building on the mood and foreplay, but sometimes, I want to be in the driver's seat. Actually, most of the time. Wait, make that ALL of the time. Muahahahahaha (evil laughter).

Everybody did a very good job with their report & presentation. Heez.

Ja neh!!!
