The guys wanted to try again to get into the newest club in town, & so we decided to meet up at 2230hrs outside the club. Previously I was out shopping for CNY clothes with Michelle, so since I was already in the area, I was pretty early & decided to stop by the reverse bungee to look at it. (See earlier entry) Big mistake, the queue ended a few steps away from the reverse bungee attraction. It was that long!!! I was in the queue since 2220hrs i only managed to reach the front of the queue at 0020hrs. 2 hours of queueing!!! I've been out since morning & I was pretty beat when I finally got in.
This is a picture found on Xiaxue's blog, taken on the opening night, which I was also there. On the night I actually got in, it was a similar situation. I chose to leech this picture from her because I though it was very nicely done, & acccurate.
The entrance to the club. Finally!!! The interior of the club's really nice, so much nicer than most of the clubc I've been to (not too many). Wonder how does Zouk compares with MoS?
OMG!!! What are you doing bro???
Was kind of hungry after clubbing so we decided to grab a bite at the 7-11 in Novetel Hotel just a stone's throw away. Potato salad!!! Yummy yum yum. Slurp...

Reverse bungee @ clark quay
Was on my way to meet up with Richard, Andrew & Chris when I was a bit early for my appointment, so decided to stop by the attraction to look at people being tossed up in the air for a fee. It's really expensive for something that last about 30 seconds. For a normal adult, it costs 35sgd & if you want a t-shirt & the video of your screaming face, the total package costs 50sgd!!! Wow. Not for the faint-hearted or the poor. Check out the prices at their webby.

Dinner @ Bugis Cafe
Was in Bugis area, shopping for Michelle's clothes for the coming Lunar New Year. Spent most of the looking at blouses, Levi's jeans, etc etc when we were hungry during dinner time. Decided to try this cafe in the air-cocnditioned section of Bugis market that we saw the previous time we came to the same place.
The way of ordering is similar to the ordering system at Cafe Cartel. One woman didn't know that & was pissed when she sit there so long but nobody came to serve her. She marched to the cashier & made a fuss. Hmmm... No comments. I didn't like the look of her anyway, but that's an entirely different matter.
&^%$#@!#$%$^*&^%*&*^%$#@!#%^&* Where's my food!!! ^%$!@**@&^%#$!@^@&^*&^^%$$@#^%$
(Believe me, my girl can really cuss! So watch your step & don't make her angry.)
Heez. I'm happy because my food is coming & I have a hot cup of tea to drink.
My aglio olio pasta. It wasn't nice & I could taste the fragrance of the olive oil nor the spiciness of the chilli. There was only some flavour from the peppers & it was oily. Sigh, where can I find aglio olio pasta that meets my standards. Even Sketchers doesn't do it for me.

Kwan Yin Temple @ Four Horses Road
Until I went out with Michelle on our first date, I didn't know where this famous temple was!!! Can you imagine I'm a Singaporean living here for 25 years liao? (Oops, now you all know how old I am liao) Anyway, it's really crowded when the temple is open to devotees to offer joss sticks & prayers to the Goddess of Mercy. I don't think I want to be caught in the human jam during the special occasions.
There are many push-carts selling joss sticks & lotus flowers, among other stuff, which I don't know what they are, because I didn't get a good look at what was on sale. They all basically sell the same thing at the same prices (I assume) so just buy from your favourite auntie or uncle loh.
The interior of the temple. Here, you are allowed to wear your footware into the main hall, but no shoes or slippers on the carpet where you knee to pray, or seek advice on problems bothering you. The only Kwan Yin temple I've been to all my life was the one at Joo Chiat. Things are a little different between the two even though both are Goddess of Mercy temples.

Chronicles of Narnia (Lion, Witch, Wardrobe)
Based on the classic novel by CS Lewis. Four London children are sent to a professors country home in order for protection during World War II. There they find a magic wardrobe which leads to a mystical land called Narnia, which is being ruled by an evil witch. To defeat the Witch, they must join forces with Aslan, the lion God of Narnia, and the great battle between good and evil.
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are deported from London to the house of an eccentric professor during World War II. They find life in the house extremely dull, until Lucy discovers a wardrobe that leads to a magical world called Narnia, where animals can talk and all are ruled over by the wise and benevolent lion Aslan. The others don't believe her at first, but soon all of them go through the wardrobe and discover all is not well in Narnia. The land is being kept in a perpetual winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis, who turns anyone who doesn't obey her into stone. The children join Aslan and the animals loyal to him in an attempt to vanquish Jadis.

Black or white, that is the question
Sony has released a white version of the wildly popular PSP in ceramic white. To me it's just white, because I can't tell the difference between ceramic white, milky white, etc. I do say I prefer the white version more than the classic black version. There's a tendency for the white-coloured PSP to turn yellowish (as do inferior grades of plastics, but I do not know how good the plastics they used to make the PSP are) or get smudged by inks, but for what it's worth, I want the white version. Sony does not officially sell the imported version as I think it is only available in Japan & certain countries. Oh well. I went to ask at the official Sony shops & they will not service the white PSP because it's not supposed to be sold here. So it seems that even if you have money, they will not repair or service it when you bring it in to a Sony authorised service centre. Maybe those ah beng shops might be able to do the job, but I don't feel completely at ease with them handling something as iconic as MY PSP.
I would like to say even if you have all the money in the world, they won't do it, but we all know how powerful money is. So if you're really rich, they might bend the rules for you, as in so many instances. But then again, if you're so rich & it's spoilt, just buy a new PSP. Sigh. The pains of being poor. Nevertheless, I wanna get the white version if I have the money & a strong enough desire to play PSP games.
A special stand to charge your PSP. From the review, it does not have speakers so the sound comes from the speakers of the PSP. As it sits in the charging cradle, the sound is muffled & this is a major drawback for the charging stand. If you find the blue lights too glaring in the dark, there is a switch at the back to turn it off. But the purpose of the stand is for the PSP to be seen!!! If the music & video functions can be controlled via remote control, it would be so much better because it is primarily a charging stand, nothing else.
White leather case for your to keep your PSP in. It's supposed to protect the PSP but I think you will be more concerned trying not to dirty the white leather or get cuts & scratches on it.

The stuff nightmares are made of
Ah, the "scared book" of people who like to smell wastewater from Ulu Panda Water Treatment Plant. Since we're into researching stuff & publishing our results for exams, degrees & pHds, It needs to be in accordance with certain standard methods & this book tells us how to conduct the experiments in a fixed way. This way, results obtained can be compared with something that was recorded in another part of the world & it makes the interpretations meaningful.
Go to the Lee Wee Nam Library 2 to get yourself a copy. Sure to help you sleep at night, no matter how energetic y0u feel beforehand.

My sister's new lappy
My sister went out & got herself a new lappy so she can surf the net & watch her dramas in the confort of her own room. Well, it's quite a good deal, with a 100Gb hard-disk. Wow, it was just like yesterday when it was something to boast about if your lappy came with a 6 Gb hard-disk!!! Can you imagine having only 6Gb for your songs & stuff??? It can't even fit in the anime that I serve... Gosh, we have indeed come a long way... From the days of the dinosaurs & compters that fill an entire room. Can use the lappy to watch television too, but I haven't figure out how to do it exactly.

Snow, I will always love you
Snejana (Snow) Urbin, 25, was born in Siberia and currently resides in NYC. She is trained in ballroom and Latin dance styles. She comes from a family of dancers; her mother and sister have danced professionally.
Been watching too much reality tv recently, which explains my slackness, but this show is really cool. It's the dancing equivalent of the American Idol (SO you think you can dance) & it's also done by the same people who made American Idol possible. The girl in the red bandana is my favourite female dancer in the competition. Her real name's kinda complicated, so she calls herself "Snow". Find out more about the show from the link below.

Check out videos of "Snow" & her journey through the competition.

So how come she's my favourite? Well, she has such a beautiful face & a great body (okie, I'm a shallow, insensitive MCP), but before you judge me on my comments, please take a look at the way she moves to the beat & feel her presence when she comes onto the stage. She's has that "It" factor that does it for me, & somehow, she's very sultry & exotic (she's from Siberia). Maybe I feel something on another level besides what my eyes can see, but it's really hard to put in into words. If you managed to get your hands on the series, you might have your own favourite dancer, based on your own preference, & i'm sure you'll be able to have a rought idea of what I'm talking about.

Merry christmas 2005
Back in hall after spending a day & a night at home. Did nothing much. Wanted to complete my FYP report but as usual, couldn't get any real work done. I guess I've been bitten by the slack bug too many times liao. Nothing much to do, nobody asked me out to party & I don't really have the Christmas mood to do anything remotely connected to Christmas
The next few days will be spent reflecting on the past year, the ups & downs (more downs than ups) & what I can do to make my life a little less meaningless. My attempt to clear all modules & be on track to graduate in 4 years has backfired. Due to many reasons, but no point blaming anything but myself when things go wrong. Because even if they're really due to other reasons, nobody gives a damn about what went wrong. They are only concerned with the fact that you failed. So no pointing of fingers at anything else except myself.
No christmas eve dinner this year. No clubbing or drinking session. Only me & my computer, in my lonely little room, in Hall Eleven.
Lastly, I would like to wish those people who cared for me, in the past, in the present & in the future, merry christmas, a happy new year, & success in their new stuff that's happening in your lives.

Changi Airport Terminal 2 at night
I prefer the night as everything is cool, quiet & not as hectic as in the day. We lead a pretty fast-paced life here in S'pore & we need all the breaks we can get, or else we will get burnt out pretty soon.
Terminal 2's passenger coach parking bay.
McDonald's in Terminal 2. As far as I remember, there is no free Wifi in the whole of Changi Airport as Starhub is the Internet Service Provider.
If I am not wrong, this should be the Departure Hall. A quiet night. Not many people take night flights.

Orange juice
Don't touch my precious!!! Precious orange juice, by Tropicana. Muahahaha!!! I think Richard's gone mad. Usually people go nuts over bananas (erm, like no link hor) but he went bonkers over oranges. But it does taste good. And there's a 1-for-1 promotion now at NTUC, so hurry down & grad those oranges (somehow that doesn't sound right).

Snow-ee, stuck on a tree
I do not have any pictures to show Snow-ee on top of the tree, but it happened in the Graduate Hall carpark. Came back the night before & decided to parked the car by the side of the kerb instead of in a proper parking lot. As I was walking back to my room, I heard a faint meowing sound coming from what I thought wasthe bushes that lined the kerb. So I did meowing sounds to see where the cat was. I though it was a "new" cat & I wanted to feed it with the leftover cat food I bought for the cats (see entry aboout my new roomies). I walked up & down, but I could see any cat, so I decided to go back for a much-needed shower & a rest.
The next day, I had to go to service my Mac as the screen was flickering & I couldn't get any work done on it. Was warming up the car when I heard the faint meowing sounds again. Decided to look for the mysterious cat one more time, but I still didn't see it in the bushes. Was about to return to the cat when I looked up by chance & there was Snow-ee!!! She was perched high up on a tree, about 3m up. She had been there since last night!!!
Called Kepple Engineering but they were unwilling to lend me such a high ladder in case anything happened to me. Was referred to SCDF & so I called 995. They immediately referred me to SPCA & they said they would send someone over soonest possible. In the meantime, I went to the tv lounge where the aunties that clean my block were resting & asked them if they had a ladder. They didn't but an uncle from Kepple Engineering was also resting there at the same time & he overheard the commotion caused by Snow-ee. He hurried off & got his friend to drive a lorry to fetch a ladder.
They returned with the ladder & uncle went up to get Snow-ee while I supported the ladder. Finally Snow-ee was saved & I have 2 deep scratches, 1 nos on my forearm & the other on my palm to show for my effort. Ungrateful cat!!! Oh well, at least I knew I had done a "good deed" today.

Wrong turn, bad jam
Singapore roads can be quite confusing if you are not familiar with the area, even though there are road sighs everywhere. I took a wrong turn one night & i ended up queueing up with those cars going into Malaysia. It was not even a Friday night but the roads leading into the causeway were packed.
Not good news for those willing to travel the extra kilometer into our neighbour's for some cheao petrol. Well, this proves that nothing can really equal in this world. We use the same petrol in our cars but the price difference is about 100%, I think. The rule was set to protect our local petrol industry, but in a free market there shouldn't be any protectionist measures right? Anyway who would go all the way to JB just for a tank of petrol? The first few times might give you a thrill because you saved quite a bit, but sooner or later, people might just fill up at the local station rather than get caught in the jam (like I did that night) just to save a few tens of dollars, when the time spent queueing can be spent with your loved ones.
